Materials and Resources
Building materials have a considerable amount of embodied energy. Embodied energy involves the energy that was expended to create the material. It takes a ton of resources to create the products that we use in construction today. It is important to be recycling materials, reusing existing materials, diverting construction waste, using regional materials to reduce resources expended for shipping, using rapidly renewable materials and certified wood so that our forests are regrown properly.
